Today, there are more choices than ever when picking a device to perform laryngoscopy, which has led to much heated debate. From DL to VL to HAVL
Direct laryngoscopy and video laryngoscopy have many similarities and distinct differences. One big difference is that DL requires a direct line of sight to the trachea, whereas VL can look around curves to get a view. You can see more of this in our airway anatomy space.

Controversy
You may encounter a heated online debate on the relevance of DL in the age of VL. We won’t go into it here, but it is essential to underscore a critical fact. In the hands of an experienced clinician, the direct laryngoscope is a safe and effective intubation device that may chosen for many reasons.
