Rapid Review

insta style

Watch the rapid review video here of the d-grip preloaded style by PAC faculty @ResusOnTheRoad then go ahead and take a deep dive into all the rest of the content. Enjoy 😊

Procedure Video

Ready to dive a little deeper? Here’s a full demonstration of the preloaded bougie technique. Perfect for the single operator when you don’t have a spare set of hands.

Microskills

It’s the little details that matter, and we’ve captured all of them here with our helpful GIFs. Go ahead and review this collection of microskills so that you can perform this procedure flawlessly. Even better, grab a bougie, tube & syringe and follow along to encode those tactile skills into your long-term memory 🧠👇.

Troubleshooting

When things go wrong you need to be able diagnose the problem and address it in real time. That means having a toolbox of troubleshooting skills for common problems. Spend some time reviewing these and add them to your toolbox.

The bougie is too short!

NOTE: not all bougies are the same length. For this preloaded bougie technique we recommend a 70cm length to introducer to ensure your able to secure it in the trachea.

Hands-On Practice

It’s time for hands-on practice at one of our guided practice stations. The instructional videos above can help you build confidence with the skills listed below.

Listen to the guided audio here until you can visualize the procedure and then practice the technique at this station using the audio guide.

Curated MedEd

Pick up some great airway pearls related to this topic and build your learning network by checking out the curated FOAM educators we have for you here. 🧼

One of our favorite FOAM educators! Dr Yen Chow and his great video on the preloaded bougie. Pay particular attention to how he holds it. Then follow him on Twitter for regular airway pearls (we do).
